Beautiful Set of 2 Vintage Hats and Hot Box. Very rare finds!
The hat box is black with gold colored spiraling stripes and a gold colored lid and strap. The unique feature of this hat box is it still has its original store price tag attached, Key 81, Manuf. 90002 (hand written) and the price of 69¢. Of course the box does show signs of age and mild wear. The gold stripes are faded and there are some scratched on the outer layer of the paper. Considering the age, it is in excellent condition.
The first hat is bonnet style, dark green with a rose or mauve tuft, there are beads sewn into the tuft. The hat has a green bow in the front and back and has a bronze colored mesh enhanced with individual baby's breath flowers. There is some areas where the mesh has separated. This hat has an elastic chin strap. There is an oval stamp on the inside that says "Lee Bodies Made Expressly for Jos. Lazarus Co." There are 2 tags attached to the lining in the hat, "Adjustable Head Size" and "Lazarus Model Cincinnati".
The second hat is a black Pillbox style with black, red and blue feathers all the way around. The hat itself is velvet with a mesh liner inside. There are 2 tags inside, one is sewn partially over the other. The top one says "Sal Ballin". Part of the second label cannot be seen but what does show says "Union Made in The USA" there is a logo to the left of this tag and 2 letters that look like BA and "085793".
